The play-off final to determine the overall winners of the Northants Senior Youth League will be between Corby Town and Cogenhoe United at Rushden & Higham`s Hayden Road on Thursday April 26th (7.45).
Corby booked their place in the final after winning the East Division last week, and Cogenhoe joined them after a 3-3 draw between Woodford United and AFC Kempston this week meant that even if they lost their final game of the season at Woodford next week, they would win a West section they have led for the majority of the campaign.
Ed Kostiuk bagged a brace for Woodford and Ben Souter did likewise for Kempston at Byfield Road in a game Kempton had to win to take the title race into the last week.
The only other league game of the week saw Yaxley and Whitworth share a 3-3 draw at Leading Drove.
James Nespoli scored twice for the hosts, with Chris Pope netting the other – Ben Mulcahy, Cordelle Francois-Noel and Nicky Charlton the young Flourmen on target.
That result means Yaxley cannot catch S&L, who could finish runners-up if they beat second-placed Peterborough Northern Star next week.
Two Jaymann Shield games saw Eynesbury Rovers and Northern Star share a goalless draw at Hall Road, while AFC Rushden & Diamonds lost for the first time since December 1st when they were beaten by Northampton Town in the County Cup.
S&L were the Diamonds conquerors at the Dog & Duck, being gifted an early 5th minute lead when Danny Bird headed over his own keeper and then grabbing a 62nd minute winner from the impressive John Dean after Conor Bell had headed the home side back into the game shortly before half-time.
