Corby Town were confirmed as champions of the Northants Senior Youth League East Division after beating nearest rivals Peterborough Northern Star 3-0 at Steel Park.
The reigning overall champions were beaten by goals from Louis Trimble, Ben Williams and a Fraser Glover penalty.
The young Steelmen now await the outcome of a much tighter West Division before knowing who they play in the play-off final on April 26th.
And that could still be either current leaders Cogenhoe United or AFC Kempston Rovers, who both won this week.
A Sam Watkins brace saw the Cooks return to top spot with a 2-0 Compton Park victory over Northampton Spencer, who then had to face Kempston at Kingsthorpe Mill later in the week and gave another good account of themselves before going down to a 2-1 loss in which Lamar Smithson and an own goal eventually saw the visitors home.
ON Chenecks and Woodford United shared a 2-2 draw at Northampton School for Boys – a result that effectively ended either side`s hope of taking the title.
Seb Thompson scored both of the Chenecks goals, taking his tally to twenty for the season and almost certainly winning the league`s `golden boot`.
S&L gave themselves an outside chance of ending runners-up in the East Division after winning 3-0 at Chancery Lane against Thrapston.
An early Macauley McBride effort and a Jon Dean free-kick gave the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead that Dean scored his second and S&L`s third midway through the second half.
The other game in the East section saw Rothwell Corinthians go down to a 1-0 home defeat to Yaxley, for whom Josh Rosser was on target.
