There are new leaders of both the East and West Divisions of the Northants Senior Youth League after this week`s matches.

Corby Town returned to top spot in the East section following a 3-1 win over Rothwell Corinthians at Steel Park.

Ryan Morgan bagged a brace for the young Steelmen, with Louis Trimble adding the third – Ben Large replying for Corinthians.

Corby head Peterborough Northern Star by a point with both having three games remaining.

ON Chenecks moved to the summit in the West Division for the first time after beating long-time leaders Cogenhoe United 2-1 at Northampton School for Boys.

Jack Goodman gave the home side the lead and Luke Adams doubled their lead before Sam Watkins pulled one back for the Cooks.

Cogenhoe remain firm favourites for the title, despite Chenecks leap-frogging them by a point, as they three games left to play, while the new leaders only have two.

The race for the top two places in the West section remains an interesting one as both AFC Kempston and Woodford United – although outsiders for the title – remain in contention after both won by a four-goal margin.

Kempston beat second-bottom Olney Town 4-0 with Brad Clark netting a hat-trick, while Woodford won by the same scoreline at Communications Park against Daventry Town.

Logan Roberts scored twice for the home side, with Joe Handley and Scott Baxter also on target.

Whitworth`s penultimate league game saw them come back from behind to beat S&L by the odd goal in five at London Road.

Macauley McBride gave the visitors the boost of an early 5th minute lead before the young Flourmen took control of the remainder of the opening half and went in 2-1 ahead with goals from Nicky Lee and Alexis Alcindor.

Ryan Gormley equalised from the penalty spot after the break and he hit the woodwork twice before a last-gasp Jonny Clewer effort won it for the home side.

The Jaymann Shield got underway this week with AFC Rushden & Diamonds entertaining Rothwell Corinthians – playing their second game of the week – at the Dog & Duck.

The youthful hosts found themselves an early goal behind when Ben Large raced onto a long ball to lob keeper Ashley Foulger.

However, shortly before the break new signing from Kettering Town, Jake Reynolds, bundled in the equaliser and then grabbed what proved to be the winner midway through the second half after an excellent run and cross from Harry May.

Shortly before the final whistle the night got even worse for Corinths when they were reduced the ten-men.
